The climate is generally temperate and the Atlantic influence contributes with a certain mildness and humidity on the coast and beyond. The temperatures show a significant difference in the inland areas where summers can be scorching and winters are harsh.
In the south, winters are milder and the sea water temperature is ideal for swimming. The Algarve is an area you can visit throughout the year, but the rest of the country is more pleasant in autumn and spring. |
