Town in southern Portugal, located in the Algarve, Albufeira is a resort and port, with just over 40 000 inhabitants. Living from tourism, it welcomes many travelers during the summer, and there frequently encounter familiar characters. Albufeira can be reached by air via Faro airport 40 kilometers, then by train, bus or car. One can also come by bus from Lisbon or Seville. Its strengths: great beaches, interesting historical sites and a beautiful hinterland. Former small fishing village, Albufeira has retained its small white houses and cobblestone streets lined with taverns and restaurants, dotted with fountains. You can visit the Church of Mercy in street Henrique Calado, the church Sao Sabastiao, the Torre do Relogio overlooking the town of its bell tower decorated with a large clock, the Municipal Museum of Archaeology reflecting the history of the region, and a little way into the country the old Moorish castle partially in ruins. Nearby, the marine zoo you will discover its wonderful aquarium and even swim with dolphins. Party-goers will love the city for its vibrant nightlife, with nightclubs, concerts and various events in bars or outdoors.
