What to do in Vancouver : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
A major Canadian city in the province of British Columbia, Vancouver has just under 700,000 inhabitants, but more than two million if the entire agglomeration is taken into account. Located in the south-west, the city is built on the Fraser River delta and has lush vegetation with abundant rainfall. Amerindian populations have lived there for over ten thousand years, and the arrival of the railway in the 19th Century contributed greatly to its development. The city is surrounded by three mountains, which are also winter sports resorts accessible by public transport, popular with Vancouver residents. The city experiences a temperate and rainy climate with warm, sunny summers. You will certainly appreciate its relaxed atmosphere, with many parks, wide and airy streets, its setting between mountains and the coastline, close to the sea and nature in general where various outdoor activities can be easily enjoyed, also its multi-ethnic culture and openness. For travelling around the city, the metro is very convenient and the bicycle is also a popular means of transport. Some sites that should not be missed include the Anthropological Museum with its collection of Native American art, the small cathedral, the Marine Building, the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Yaletown and Gastown quarters, Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium.
