Finland: Climate & Weather

Situated as it is in a northernmost latitude, the climate of the country is however temperate due to the Gulf Stream.

Winter temperatures can descend to -30°C for several months with a few days when the sun hardly comes out at all.

Springtime is very short and begins in May; temperatures in summer reach 20°C, sometimes 30°C accompanied by a marked growth in vegetation, an influx of tourists and the famous midnight sun.

Autumn begins in September in Lapland and later reaches the south with an explosion of colour, but the snow covers everything very quickly.

The best time to visit the country is between May and September, at this time the climatic conditions are comfortable, but it can be very magical and special if you go in winter.
