Crete (kriti): Climate & WeatherThe Mediterranean climate provides fairly high temperatures although a little cooler than mainland Greece because of the wind and sea breezes. Winter is rather mild especially along the coast, colder inside the country with more frequent rain on the northern coast and snow in the mountains between November and April. The southern coast is the warmest and driest. The wind can blow hard during July and August on the south coast. The best time to visit the island is during the spring and autumn seasons, firstly because of the perfect weather conditions, secondly because there are fewer visitors. |
