What to do in Canberra : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Capital of Australia, Canberra has a population of around 350,000. Seat of the Australian Government, the city was built at the beginning of the 20th Century on the shores of a lake and possesses vast zones of natural vegetation. The River Molonglo runs through it. The city also represents an important cultural pole through numerous institutions such as the National Gallery of Australia, the National Library and the National Museum. Other places that are worth a detour include the National Botanical Gardens, the zoo, the aquarium, the National Dinosaur Museum, and the National Centre of Science and technology. There are also a number of historical houses that demonstrate the life of the early European colonists. The city has a calm and relaxed atmosphere, no doubt due to its balanced architecture, environmental aspects and the proximity to nature; it is not unusual to come across kangaroos in the city centre which certainly provides a unique experience!
