The federal capital of the United States, Washington has approximately 600,000 city inhabitants. Located in the eastern United States, the city experiences a humid subtropical climate with very hot and stormy summers and cold, snowy winters. The city is home to the White House, the Capitol and many other major U.S. institutions.
