Located on a peninsula on the north coast of Cuba, Varadero is also called Playa Azul, because of its white sand beaches that make it one of the largest resorts in the Caribbean, attracting many tourists from North America, mainly Canada, and Europe. Its tropical climate gives it mild temperatures that do not drop below 10 °C in winter and are around 28 °C in summer, with the heaviest rainfall between May and October.
