Inbound tourism to China is still not feasible. Now there are three ways for foreigners to enter China:
- Holding a valid Chinese residence permit for work, study, personal matters, or reunion
- Holding a diplomatic, service, courtesy, or C visa
- Holiding valid APEC business cards
- Applying for a new China visa (the previous visa will not be cancelled) — Z-, M-, R-, X1, Q-, and S-visas now are possible."
From January 8th, 2023, for all travelers, whether you are vaccinated or not, you're suggested to take one PCR test within 48 hours before departurea and only board the flight when your nucleic acid result is negative.
There is no need to apply for a health code anymore.
If you transfer through a third country to China, you can take one PCR test at the city of departure OR at your transfer airport/city.
If you are due to arrive in China before 8 January 2023 you will need to submit an online Health Declaration Certificate to the nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate before you travel. They will need to certify your form and return it to you via email. Entry requirements for China are the same regardless of vaccination status.

Some restaurants have begun reopening their dining rooms, in limited capacity and for limited hours. Regulations vary between provinces. In high-risk areas, restaurants and bars are closed.
Some of China's main tourist attractions have re-opened under social distancing rules and capacity limitations.
