What to do in Thimphu : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants

ThimphuBhutan capital Thimphu is located at 2350 meters above sea level in western countries. With just under 80,000 inhabitants, the city is built according to traditional architecture displaying Buddhist motifs, according to the regulations in force, and forests surround it from all sides, all giving it a very quirky appearance. Pending the construction of a small tram network, it moves easily on foot. Buses connect the city to many destinations in the country. What to see in Thimphu? Start with the protected reserve frequented twenty takins (near bovid wildebeest, who lives in the Himalayan mountains and is also the national animal), but also muntjacs (small Asian deer), sambar of (other small deer) and goral (a type of mountain goat of Asia). Another site to visit the Royal Botanic Garden, 15 km from the capital, created in May 1999 to preserve the flora of Bhutan. It includes the House of orchids with over 800 species of these flowers, an arboretum with deciduous and coniferous endemic and a prayer wheel, a chorten (Tibetan religious building), a Japanese garden, a rose garden, the medicinal plants, a water garden and a collection of rhododendrons. Finally, discover the Buddhist monastery-fortress Tashichho Dzong (fortress of the glorious religion), built in 1641 and has now become the seat of government, the most remarkable monument of Timphou. This building houses the monks, but the throne room and administrative offices. It is also part of the Tshechu party, popular event celebrated in honor of Guru Rinpoche, known as Second Buddha to have brought Buddhism in the country and that in the years in Nepal 800. A report also as places visit the statue of Buddha Dordenma (golden high of over 51 m, overlooking the city, one of the highest in the world), the National Memorial Chorten (it has a beautiful view of the city by walking on his gallery) The agricultural market, the paper mill, the painting school, the Folk Heritage Museum. We arrive at Paro via Thimphu airport, about fifty kilometers from the capital.
