Provisions for travellers


Entry to the territory: Partially Allowed
The Government of Kuwait has extended the ban on entry for non-Kuwaiti citizens until further notice. There are exceptions available for first-degree relatives of Kuwaiti citizens and domestic employees traveling with them. Details can be found at corona.e.gov.kw.

Starting May 22, Kuwaiti citizens, first-degree relatives of Kuwaiti citizens, and domestic employees traveling with them are not permitted to travel from Kuwait unless they are fully vaccinated.

It is mandatory to travel with a negative PCR test result administered within 72 hours of boarding a flight to Kuwait. It is unclear whether PCR tests upon arrival will remain in effect.

As of May 18, travelers returning to Kuwait who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or who have recovered from COVID-19 within 90 days are not subject to quarantine, provided that they produce a negative PCR test within three days of arrival. Other travelers must still undergo seven (7) days of institutional quarantine and then provide a negative PCR test result or face an additional seven days of home quarantine. Lockdown: Partial
Commercial businesses are now permitted to remain open after 8:00PM. Private businesses and government offices are operating with up to 60 percent staffing.

Restaurants and cafes have re-opened for in-person dining, with adherence to health regulations. Effective June 27, only individuals who have received at least one dose of a vaccine approved by the Government of Kuwait or those exempt from the vaccine may enter certain public spaces including restaurants, cafes, gyms, salons, and malls. Individuals seeking entry into these spaces may present the Kuwait Mobile ID or Immune applications as proof of vaccination or COVID-19 recovery.

Unvaccinated persons may only enter pharmacies, cooperatives, and grocery stores. Effective August 1, 2021, unvaccinated persons may also enter hospitals and government agencies.

Gatherings are now permitted except for weddings, diwaniyas, and conventions. Cinemas and theaters are open to vaccinated patrons. Museums and cultural centers are open to vaccinated persons.

All special activities for children will also open starting September 1, 2021.
