What to do in Kansas City : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
A major city in the state of Missouri, United States, Kansas City has around 500,000 inhabitants. Essentially a business city, it is only moderately open to tourism. A gigantic park, Swope park takes up a fair amount of the city which has open green areas, a golf course, a zoo, an open air theatre and various sporting arenas and stadiums. You can visit the Nelson Atkins Art Museum that has impressive collections of antique, classical and contemporary art and the Westport quarter, an old restored area with a number of restaurants as well as various shops and boutiques. There is also the Kansas City Jazz Museum, the River Market which is the largest open air market in the Midwest, and the Plaza shopping mall with its chic boutiques, cinemas and theatres. Do not miss the Agricultural Hall of Fame and National Centre with its unique exhibition of agricultural machines from around the world and demonstrations of agricultural techniques through the years. A number of restaurants are scattered throughout the city so eating out isn’t a problem, in particular there are quite a few grill restaurants. For a car trip outside the city you may wish to visit Weston which has the oldest distillery in the USA.
