Ile de SkyeLocated in the Hebrides, Scotland, also known as Skye Island of Mists ... It is approximately 75 km of 40 and ribs are cut, giving the impression the visitor will never be far away the sea. Another feature of the Scottish island, high mountains that overlook the ocean, regardless of where one is. You arrive on Skye by taking a ferry from Mallaig or you cross the bridge that goes from Kyle of Lochalsh to the island, although this second solution is not the most recommended because the arrival in the port of Kyleakin is a bit disappointing. The ferry, however, drops you in Armadale, with its fortress, its wild landscapes and the Sleat peninsula which is also known as "the garden of Skye ', because of its greenery. You will also find historical remains. The chain of Cuillin obviously is the greatest feature of the island: this mountain range that reaches almost a thousand meters is divided into two parts, the Black Cuillin in the center of the island, composed of basalt and gabbro, difficult access and the Red Cuilllin south, granite, with less jagged peaks and over grassy slopes. They give a particular aspect to the landscape, both beautiful and wild. You can also visit the various castles that are on the island: the clan of the MacLeods, Dunvegan Castle, but also Armadale Castle, in ruins but whose gardens house a museum dedicated to the history of 'Scotland. Another interesting place to visit: the Talisker distillery on the west coast. Do not miss taking a walk in Portree, the capital of the island, nestled between two headlands, this small town is very lively, with its many shops and its pretty harbor with colorful houses where the fishermen return end of each day with the product of their work, creating a very picturesque spectacle. If you find in August, you can attend the Skye Highland Games, spectacular sporting events. Other places to discover: the mountains of Quiraing towards the center of the Trotternish peninsula, with its peat bogs and meadows, and endless hiking possibilities in beautiful scenery; superb Staffin Bay in the middle of which stands an island with strange shapes; Cliffs of Kilt Rock Waterfall with their waterfall that flows into the sea; nearby Loch Ainort the slopes covered with heather; the road along the Cuillin Hills already mentioned in passing to the Loch Slapin to the peaceful waters, like a magic mirror which reflects the surrounding mountains ... You understood that many surprises await you on this island a little apart, which is a compendium of breathtaking scenery, which you can easily spend several days if you want to tour all its treasures.
