What to do in Bridgetown : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Capital of Barbados in the Caribbean, Bridgetown has a population of just under 100,000. The town has a number of tourist attractions such as Broad Street with its duty free shops, National Heroes square and the statue of Lord Nelson, protector of the island, the Victorian style Parliament Building is also worth seeing as is St. Michael’s cathedral with its structure made of coral. Barbados Museum is also worth a detour; an ancient prison transformed into a museum that traces the island’s history through a number of collections. There is also the Mount Gay Rum Factory, which offers tours that end with rum tasting sessions. The night life will not disappoint those who enjoy their evenings out as there are a number of night clubs and events. During the day Brighton Beach is definitely worth a visit; situated to the north of the town, and very popular with those seeking relaxation. Divers too will find a great choice of sites to visit.
