What to do in Auckland : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Located in New Zealand, Auckland is the largest city in the country and has 1.3 million inhabitants, which represents more than a quarter of the total population. Built on an isthmus, the city also extends beyond this zone, and its particularity, besides its strong maritime character, is the multitude of volcanoes scattered over its territory. Auckland has a humid subtropical climate, with mild temperatures. Its population includes many communities, mostly of British origin, Maori, Asian and Polynesian. The city is served by an international airport, but travel within the city is generally by car because there is limited public transport, which encourages frequent traffic jams. The traveler can find many attractions in this city: the permanent presence of the sea gives it a very special charm, and gives it often sumptuous landscapes. Yachts berthed in ports (there are two) and regattas held regularly from Auckland did nicknamed "city of sails": we advise you also to discover Auckland sea by a boat trip in the Gulf. You can also visit beautiful monuments or explore the Auckland Museum, which retraces the steps of the history of Maori. For sports lovers, it is possible to hike on the slopes of volcanoes that dominate the city. Shoppers will stroll with pleasure on Queen Streeet. Do not miss: the Sky Tower, the tallest building in the southern hemisphere with its 328 meters high, which you can admire a magnificent panorama, a distance of over 80 kilometers in good weather.
