Greek island part of the Ionian Islands, Zakynthos is popular with travelers and vacationers, and has just over 41 000 inhabitants. Also known as Zakynthos, the island has become very touristy now, and you will find in Laganas many bars, clubs and a lot of animation, while some places have retained their serenity, like Argassi. If you enjoy the peace and nature in bloom, it is best to visit Zakynthos in the spring before the arrival of tourists. It is also close to the island that was created the National Marine Park which protects the sea turtle Caretta caretta. You will also discover the museum dedicated to Dionysus Solomos Byzantine art museum, the Saint-Denis church houses the relics of the patron saint of Zakynthos, Mount Bochali and its Venetian castle, the blue caves to visit by boat in the north of the island, the white cliffs of Keri. You can dive in Porto Zorro, and to enjoy the beautiful beaches that dot the coastline, you will be spoiled for choice. Food lovers will not be disappointed, they can try local specialties such as sartsa (meat dish) or skordostoumpi (eggplant and garlic), accompanied by excellent wines of the growth. Zante is accessed by air, since the island has its own airport, from Athens and other European capitals in the summer, but also by boat from the mainland. For travel to the island, local buses and taxis will take you anywhere you want, but you can also rent a bike or a car.
