What to do in York : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
A city in northern England, York has just under 200,000 inhabitants. Located at the confluence of two rivers, its history dates back to antiquity. York is a very interesting city showing traces of over 2,000 years with many places of interest including the magnificent York Minster, the Castle Museum with a reconstruction of scenes from the Victorian and Edwardian periods, the Railway Museum, Clifford 's Tower built by William the Conqueror, the ramparts that date back to the Romans, and the amphitheatre. Visitors will also enjoy strolling around the pedestrian streets, take refreshment in the picturesque tea rooms, or enjoy one of the many themed tours available. There are other interesting museums and another popular attraction is the York City Art Gallery. In addition, a number of festive events take place each year celebrating the theatre, music, antiques and literature, and the racecourse hosts races famous throughout the UK. The hotel infrastructure is well developed and you will have no trouble finding accommodation for your visit to the city.
