A Russian city located in the extreme eastern part of the country, and a major port on the Pacific coast, Vladivostok has a little under 600,000 inhabitants. The city experiences a humid continental climate, with hot, rainy summers and cold, snowy but sunny winters. Nowadays the industrial, cultural and scientific centre of Russia’s Far East, the city's heart is the seaport, but it is also home to a number of places that are interesting for visitors including the Regional Museum, the Oceanarium, the Fortress Museum, the Orthodox church of Saint-Nicolas and the Eagle's Nest, accessible on foot or by funicular, from where you have an exceptional view. The city also has the Far Eastern Maritime Reserve and the Ussuri Nature Reserve, protecting a unique spectrum of wildlife including bears, wild boar, tigers and leopards. You can reach the city by taking the famous Trans-Siberian Railway and arriving in the world's most famous rail station.
