What to do in Seville : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
A city in southern Spain, Seville has around 700,000 inhabitants. It is the economic and cultural centre of Andalusia and has a rich history and a prestigious architectural and artistic heritage, which partly explains its huge popularity with tourists. Crossed by the river Guadalquivir, the city also enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hot, dry summers. The city is connected to the rest of the country and Europe through a network of various types of transportation such as road, air and rail, tram and metro and travel within the city itself is also easy. There are many historical monuments and landmarks around the city such as countless churches, palaces, convents, monasteries and various buildings. Recommended places to visit include St. Mary's Cathedral and the Giralda, the symbol of the city, the church of San Marcos, the San Telmo Palace, the Arena, and the Gold Tower. Several museums are also worth visiting; the Museum of Fine Arts, the Archaeological Museum, and the Andalusian Centre of Contemporary Art are good examples. But Seville is also a city that hosts many popular festivals, both religious such as that at Easter, or non-religious too, its identity is closely linked to bullfighting. You will no doubt enjoy the city nightlife, with its many tapas bars and open air nightclubs.
