What to do in Pisa : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Italian city of Tuscany, Pisa is famous worldwide for its leaning tower. Built on the River Arno, it is just under 90 000 inhabitants, and the traveler will discover many sites to visit: the Cathedral Square or Piazza Duomo, where stands the marble cathedral built in the 11th century, Romanesque with his famous Leaning Tower from the 12th century, 55 meters high. You will also visit the Museo dello Sinopie where they keep the drawings that preceded the frescoes; Campo Santo monumental cemetery and marble galleries decorated with tombstones; Via Santa Maria, the main street of the city, and its elegant buildings; Piazza Cavalieri, surrounded by superb palaces; the daily market of via San Frediano; the arcades of Borgo Stretto, former trade route; Blue Palace, center of cultural promotion offering numerous exhibitions. Take time to taste the local specialties, bruschetta and zuppe, accompanied by local wines. Pisa is accessed by plane from Paris, Lille, Brussels or Lyon but also by train via Florence and the car is a great option if you want to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. To move around the city, however, prefer the bus or even better the bike or scooter; walking more than enough to cover the city center.
