What to do in Perpignan : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants

PerpignanLocated in the south of France, in the Pyrenees Orientales, Perpignan has about 121,000 inhabitants, and its proximity to Spain explains its very present Catalan culture. Perpignan is accessed by TGV from Paris, Brussels (via Lyon) and Barcelona via the A9 motorway serving the entire Mediterranean coast, and an airport allowing flights to Paris, London, Brussels, Amsterdam and other French and European cities in high season. To move intramural, there is a bus network and self-service bikes with 15 stations spread throughout the city. The curious traveler will find in Perpignan many traces of its past, which started in medieval times: the Castillet vestige of the old walls, which now houses the Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions having once been a prison; the Loge de Mer and its Gothic architecture, which is the maritime court; City Hall from the 14th century and its patio where throne the "Mediterranean", imposing sculpture of Maillol; the majestic palace of the kings of Majorca, built in the 13th century, surrounded by gardens, which testifies to the apogee of Catalan country; the Cathedral of St. John and his various works of art, paintings, statues and altarpieces; Campo Santo cloister-cemetery adjoining the cathedral, with its Gothic portico of white marble and contemporary stained glass in the funeral chapel; the Chapel of Our Lady of the Angels, built in the 13th century by the kings of Majorca; home Catalanity devoted to Catalan culture, and regularly offers the public various exhibitions. You can visit and relax in several parks and gardens that aerate the city, like the exotic garden of the dike Orry, with its exotic section very attractive, the Maillol park, popular with children for its many playgrounds, or park Nursery, particularly sumptuous autumn.
