A city in northern Italy, Milan has 1.7 million inhabitants. Capital of fashion, but also a financial and commercial hub of the country, it attracts many tourists. Located at the crossroads of important communication routes, the city has a continental climate with hot summers and snowy winters. It is marked by a rich history since the 3rd Century. Many places and monuments are worth visiting including the Cathedral, several basilicas, the Clairvaux Abbey, the famous Scala, the Brera Art Gallery, the Poldi Pezzoli Museum, the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology, the Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery, are just a few examples. Three airports serve the city, and you can move around by metro or tram. The identity of the city is very strongly influenced by the character of Leonardo da Vinci, who painted The Last Supper there, but also other cultural aspects including ballet, opera, and cinema with the African film festival, and fashion with prestigious names like Gucci, Versace and Prada. Food lovers will find numerous restaurants in the historic centre, where you can taste regional specialties such as Escalope Milanese or Osso Buco.
