What to do in Ljubljana : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
The capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana has a little under 300,000 inhabitants. Located at the crossroads of many cultures, it is marked by its history and experienced Germanic, Slavic and Latin influences. It has an intact historic centre, where you can discover Baroque and Art Nouveau buildings, and also the 12th Century castle which dominates the hill, and is connected to the city centre by a funicular railway. There is also Saint-Nicolas with its twin towers and green dome, St. Peter's Church, the Bridge of Dragons with impressive statues, the Robba fountain and the triple bridge. Besides its monuments, the city is home to numerous galleries and museums including the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Natural History, as well as various theatres which host many cultural events. To move around within the city, the bus is the easiest form of transport, unless you prefer to rent a bike. Regarding accommodation, the city’s Tourist Office suggests many possibilities ranging from hotels to guesthouses, campsites and tourist complexes. You can try typical Slovenian dishes in the many restaurants and inns.
