What to do in Leeds : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
City located in the north of England, on the River Aire, Leeds belong to the county of Yorkshire, and has approximately 770,000 inhabitants (nearly two million for the whole agglomeration). It is served by an international airport, and is an important financial center. It is also a major sport center, with good reputation teams for rugby and football as well as cricket. From a tourism perspective, Leeds offers a rich cultural life, a dynamic commerce and interesting architecture, not to mention a pretty intense nightlife. You will find numerous museums such as the Royal Armouries, Leeds City Art Gallery with its "contemporary works, or renowned theaters including the West Yorkshire Playhouse and the Grand Theatre. Shopaholics will be delighted to discover the thousand shops along the pedestrian streets of the city center, and architecture lovers will appreciate the beautiful cathedral Sainte-Anne or the remains of the Cistercian abbey Kirstall 12th century, as well as Victoria Square and its giant chessboard, the Temple Newsam while brick house built in the 15th century. There are also many parks and gardens in the town. Outside of the city center, do not miss the many castles in Leeds County.
