City Pays de la Loire Laval has about 50,000 inhabitants and is located between Normandy and Anjou, beside the Mayenne. Inhabited since Roman times, dominated by an imposing castle whose circular keep monitoring the river, the city now has the label "City of Art and History", earned thanks to its rich heritage and activities he leads. The castle was built in the 11th century, and today it houses a museum of Naive Art, Europe's finest collection probably in this area, homage to the painter Henri Rousseau. You can also visit the medieval streets of the city and the fortifications of the 13th and 15th centuries, the beautiful Beucheresse door that once opened the way to the UK, the House of the Large Huntsman top of the High Street. In a different area, the city of Milk, the Lactopôle, is reputed to be the largest museum in the world for milk and cheese: spread over 5000 m2, it has a very comprehensive approach to turning around the milk business.
