LanzarotePart of the Canary Islands, Spain, Lanzarote is in the Atlantic Ocean off the African coast, and has just under 150 000. The island is of volcanic origin and rises to 670 meters above sea level, approximately 60 km long and 25 km wide. The coast is mostly rocky, but nevertheless are 26 km of beaches. Its main business is now tourism, mainly based on the natural resources of the island you will visit for example the Timanfaya National Park, amazing group of volcanoes landscapes and lava fields; Garden of Cactus, in the village of Guatiza, with over 1,000 species of cacti; Mirador del Rio, designed by the artist Cesar Manrique, and offers a superb view of the island; Janubio salt works in the municipality of Yaiza, still producing 2,000 tons of salt each year; the beautiful foundation César Manrique, painter, architect and sculptor native of the island, where an exhibition of contemporary art; the beautiful beaches of Papagayo, on the southern tip of the island, with crystal clear waters and golden sand; Jameos del Agua, caves with an interior lake and a natural auditorium; the Geria valley is producing wine of Malvasia, where the vine is grown in sheltered hollow circles from the wind by walls built in half-moon volcanic stones; Hervideros, two vaulted caves bristling with petrified lava whence the waves beat into a full fury show. Lanzarote is accessed by an international airport, located 4km from Arrecife. To move around the island, it is better to have a car, you can easily find for rent in airport agency.
