Located west of the island of Reunion, Hermitage Beach is located in the municipality of Saint-Paul, and it is the longest of the island, with its 7 km. It is an extension of the Saline lagoon in the south, so that we distinguish by name these places when in fact they form a single stretch of white sand and calm water bordered by the reef . The beach is lined with casuarina trees and dotted with creeping plants with pink or purple flowers. Families love to meet for picnics in the shade of trees, and the sunsets are sublime it. The lagoon is very suitable for diving with fins and snorkel, it is shallow and we discover a dense fauna and multicolor that amaze divers. It must however be careful to preserve the fragile nature which tends to be damaged by the waste left behind, despite the fact that it stands in a protected area. In addition, there are some dangers to swimmers: the currents can be strong, some fish are dangerous like stonefish or scorpion fish and some shellfish (cones) and sea urchin-flower. Easily accessed by car or even by bike from the center of Saint-Gilles.
