What to do in Dublin : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Capital of the Republic of Ireland, Dublin has just over 500,000 inhabitants. A historical, political, administrative, economic and cultural centre, Dublin has also produced some great writers including Oscar Wilde, Samuel Beckett and James Joyce. A number of theatres and operas form part of the cultural backdrop to this city together with museums and art galleries. Dublin is however still a fairly ‘young’ city with a vivacious night life boasting numerous pubs, traditional music concerts and many other events. The city is home to a number of places that should not be missed; Trinity College that has the oldest book in the world, the Bank of Ireland building, Christ Church Cathedral, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, the Dublin Writers’ Museum and the National Museum as well as numerous places and squares scattered throughout the city. Regarding transport around the city; trams and buses are both frequent and practical. Shopping is also popular with visitors in the Irish capital; Grafton Street and St. Stephen’s Green centre are among the best places for this. For relaxation and a breath of fresh air we suggest a visit to Phoenix Park and the Mount Wicklow Nature Park, both very green and peaceful places to unwind.
