What to do in Chisinau : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants

ChisinauCapital of Moldova, Chisinau has just over 750 000 inhabitants. Located in the center of the country, it is built on a set of seven hills, like Rome. The city is served by a network of trolleys and buses, but there are also shared taxis that run specific routes and take customers on demand. It also has an international airport. Nicknamed the Moldovan capital "white city bathed in a sea green" because of the greenery that abounds around the buildings in white stone, and it is in summer that this metaphor makes sense due to the gardens and walkways trees lining the avenues: half of the city is covered effect of squares and green parks. What to see in Chisinau? The historic center and its hundreds of 19th century buildings, its 18 churches including the Cathedral Birth of Christ in the heart of the capital; the Museum of Ethnography and Natural History; the National History Museum of Moldova; the Museum of Fine Arts; Stefan cel Mare Boulevard, which is the backbone of the city and measures almost 4 km long, whose construction began in 1789; throughout this boulevard, the Armenian quarter; Mihai Eminescu National Theatre; close, it is nicknamed the Moldovan Montmartre, open art exhibition; the central square, which hosts concerts and other events, where the Arc de Triomphe are located, the flower market, and the seat of government; Stefan cel Mare park with the statue of the eponymous prince; the Opera and Ballet Theatre. We can see through these constructions the evolution of architecture in the country, with the beautiful buildings of the late 19th (court, city hall, Royal school, water tower, home Herza) and the Soviet-style buildings dating from after 1919 (Palace of Trade unions, opera, Government house).
