What to do in Chefchaouen : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
City located northwest of Morocco, 600 meters above sea level, Chefchaouen has just over 42 000 inhabitants. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, it also has beautiful forests, clear air and very popular with travelers. Besides numerous shops offering various objects of Moroccan craftsmanship (one of the most important sources of income of the city), you can discover the medina and its five-door, the bluish white peculiar of its houses, and instead Uta el-Hammam, the heart of the city, with its restaurant terraces, dominated by the Great Mosque and the Kasbah; instead of Makhzen, which take a lane that takes you to the Ras el-Maa source, where women wash clothes in the old; Kasbah gardens with the little museum and its collection of ancient weapons, instruments and textiles; the modern city and its market which meet every Monday and Thursday mountaineers who come to sell their products in their traditional costumes; the pretty little mosque Jemaa Bouzafar. Several excursions are possible from Chefchaouen, such Akchour and the Bridge of God, an arch of rock placed 25 meters above the river, or beach Targha and the village of Oued Lalou. Athletes will have many opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, canyoning, horse riding, mountain biking, caving. There are several hotels and apartments for rent in the city. To access Chefchaouen, you will arrive by road from Tanger (110 km) by car or bus.
