What to do in Cergy : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
French city of Val d'Oise in Ile-de-France, Cergy has about 63 000 inhabitants, and it was a village for a long time (today called Cergy-Village) before developing in the 70's with its new districts, which today shelter the majority of the population. The city is connected to Paris by the A15, but also by the line A of the RER. Buses allow travel in the city, as well as a bike sharing system common to the agglomeration of Cergy-Pontoise, which offers 360 bicycles and 41 stations. In Cergy, there is a leisure center of 250 hectares of which 150 are dedicated to water bodies, allowing the practice of various sports: windsurfing, swimming, tennis, etc. You will also be able to discover some historical monuments, like the Saint-Christophe church, of Romanesque and Gothic style; the fortified gate of the old priory; the menhir of Gency, in the garden of the retirement home, impressive by its measurements (more than 5 m wide for a height of almost 4 m). See also: the niche with statue of saint with its two columns and pediment, dating from the 19th century; Gency Castle and its park; Gérard Philippe's house, which has become a place of temporary exhibitions; the wash-house of Rousselette, covered and surrounded by openwork walls; the marina, Port-Cergy, where the houses have gardens opening onto the canals. Do not miss to discover also the Bois de Cergy, present since centuries even if it was redeveloped, with the Butte in Juju from where to admire a magnificent point of view on the Oise, and take a walk in the François park -Mitterrand, the green lung of the center.
