What to do in Biarritz : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants

BiarritzLocated in the Basque Country, in the southwest of France, Biarritz is a city that borders the Atlantic Ocean on 4 km and has about 25,000 residents. Ancient port of whaling, becomes seaside resort in the 19th century and continues today to attract travelers thanks to its mild climate and its marine activities. Biarritz is accessed by the A63, but also by TGV from Paris, and aircraft landing at the airport of Biarritz-Anglet-Bayonne. To move around the city, free shuttle buses into the center and there is also a bus network. Take a walk is also a good solution, the city is not very large and the fresh sea air. You will find many places of interest: the Rock of the Virgin with its statue, which you reach by the Eiffel bridge, from which to admire the coast (to absolutely avoid in stormy weather); the beach, dominated by the Casino, bars and restaurants, with colorful striped beach huts and hosted by the exploits of all surfers throughout the year; Les Halles, in the heart of the city, where we find the market, but also bars, restaurants and places of tasting local products; the Museum of the Sea aquarium with among other things over 150 species of fauna and flora, and collections on Basque fishing techniques; the Orthodox church, built in 1892, facing the sea, with its distinctive architecture; the beautiful church Sainte-Eugénie of Romano-Byzantine style on the heights of the city; Villa Belza, perched on a rock between the Basque coast and the Old Port; Port of Fishermen, with small friendly restaurants and enjoy mussels or grilled sardines; the small cove of Port Vieux, very picturesque between the rocks; Phare, to see the sunset and admire the city lights in the distance and the beaches of Anglet. Biarritz also offers many distractions both for sport and for night owls. For the latter, to report the Casetas Biarritz festivals that take place in mid-June on the Cote des Basques, and that take advantage of the long evenings of early summer in an exceptional setting.
