What to do in Belfast : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
The capital city of Northern Ireland, Belfast has a population of just under 300,000, double that including the outskirts. The Belfast area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. Due to the troubles it experienced, Belfast does not receive the attention it should as it is an interesting city displaying a multi-cultural identity. Numerous monuments and buildings are worth visiting and most are grouped around the old city centre which makes it easier to see them all on foot. These include the Grand Opera House, the City Hall in Donegal square, the famous Crown Liquor Saloon Pub, the old Linen Hall Library, and the protestant church of St Ann. Concerning museums, the Ulster Museum is fascinating and has a number of interesting sections, do not miss it. Something else that should be seen is the collection of painted murals commemorating the fighters on the sides of the houses in west Belfast. Belfast also has a vivacious night life, the best place for this is the Golden Mile. The city also has a renowned concert hall, Waterfront Hall. Leaving the city you can visit the Giant’s Causeway, a natural curiosity that is very impressive.
