Located northwest from Morocco, 40 km south of Tangier, Asilah has about 30,000 inhabitants, and it is a seaside resort full of charm, very appreciated by Moroccans as Europeans. It also attracts a lot of artists from all backgrounds, who are a pretty inspiring in its narrow streets running between the white houses and blue doors, the beaches and steep cliffs. Many sites display a genuine interest for the traveler who discovers Asilah all white medina and the Portuguese ramparts pierced with five doors from different eras; Raïssouli of the palace which houses the cultural center: the Krikia, advanced bastion of which forms a balcony overlooking the sea; the small seaside cemetery where the graves are covered with ceramics; Zellaka Square with its mosque, its Christian church and palm trees, meeting place for centuries; the walls of the medina where are painted all over works of art. If you are Asilah in August, do not miss the International Festival of Arts, which sees meet artists from around the world. Asilah is accessed by the motorway from Tanger, or train. The nearest airport is Tangiers, and also as a liaison with Asilah. For accommodation, you can choose hotels or guest houses, at prices often inexpensive.
