It is a saga that has defined the last few decades, capturing the imaginations of several generations. Harry Potter is finally getting his first dedicated hotel, allowing fans to fully immerse themselves in his magical world overnight. However, you won’t find it in the Highlands of Scotland; the project is actually set for Germany.
The World of Harry Potter
For the few who might have missed it, Harry Potter began as a series of seven novels by British author J.K. Rowling, published between 1997 and 2007.
To put it briefly, it tells the story of a young orphan who discovers on his 11th birthday that he possesses magical powers. He is whisked away to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a secret castle hidden in the Scottish mountains. The story follows Harry and his friends as they grow up through their school years. Of course, it’s far from a quiet education—especially when Harry discovers that a powerful dark wizard named Lord Voldemort, who killed his parents, is seeking to seize control of the wizarding world. Ultimately, only Harry has the power to stop him.
A New Immersive Experience for 2026
While fans have been able to visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour near London for years—offering a look at the actual sets used in the eight films—there has never been an official hotel entirely dedicated to the franchise.
That is set to change in 2026 with the opening of a Harry Potter hotel in the small town of Günzburg, Bavaria. The hotel will be located right at the heart of the Legoland Deutschland Resort.
The establishment promises total immersion into the Potterverse. Rooms will be themed according to the four Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff, where students are sorted based on their personality. Every piece of furniture will reflect the aesthetic of the films, as will the hotel’s communal areas. The “magical” architecture is designed to mimic the famous corridors and galleries of Hogwarts castle, but with a unique twist: much of the decor and various sculptures will be crafted entirely from Lego bricks.
The hotel is currently under construction, and the official opening date is expected to be announced soon.
