Reunion: The basics

Réunion is very well served by several airlines.

French citizens obviously do not need a visa, and other EU citizens can live there without a visa for up to three months.

The currency in circulation is the Euro as with the entire French territory.

The budget is very similar to that required in France. For hotel accommodation, "one star" or bed and breakfast costs around €50 and a hearty and tasty meal €25. You will pay much less at street stalls or for a takeaway meal. Feel free to taste the many culinary specialties: Almost one per city!

Regarding health, there are no particular risks: It is advisable to keep all your classic vaccinations up to date and add those for hepatitis A and B. Protect yourself from the sun and mosquitoes, and surfers should watch out for sharks.

To travel inland, buses serve the coast road and taxis serve the villages. You can also rent a car if you do not mind the narrow roads.

Possible Souvenirs: Bamboo or Common Screw Pine basketry, furniture, embroidery, flowers.
