Amsterdam has an international airport but you can also get there by train from Paris or Brussels. Long distance buses are available from major European cities and the road network is very effective whether you go by motorcycle or by car.
An identity card is sufficient for European citizens. The currency in circulation is the Euro. The budget required is roughly the same as in France, more precisely in Paris: It will be difficult to find a reasonable double room for less than €80 and an average meal will cost around twenty Euros. Breakfast and dinner are traditionally the heartiest meals, allowing you to snack at lunchtime in cafés for a more modest sum. To travel within the country trains or buses are available, although they are quite expensive. The capital of the Netherlands is a relatively sparsely populated city: the urban area includes about one and a half million inhabitants.
