What to do in Amsterdam : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam is relatively low in population; its agglomeration includes around one and a half million inhabitants. Its network of canals is definitely one of Amsterdam’s major charms but the city is also well known for its brightly coloured and gabled houses, shutterless windows, and numerous friendly cafes. However Amsterdam also possesses some incredible architectural treasures; the medieval town in the city centre, the famous red quarter with its prostitutes displaying their charms in the windows, Dam Place surrounded by incredible monuments such as the Royal Palace, Begijnhof gardens, and Wester Kerk with its clock tower that dominates the city’s skyline are just a few of its numerous places to visit. During your walk around the city you could also visit the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijks Museum with its Rembrandt collection and of course the House of Anne Franck that will definitely move you. Other places to visit include Madame Tussauds with its effigies of famous personalities, similar to the Grévin Museum, or you could visit one of the famous coffee shops where cannabis is for sale in small quantities to those over 18. Complete your visit to the city with a bicycle ride, the form of transport preferred by many of its residents.
