This archipelago, refreshed by the sea breezes, experiences temperatures slightly lower than those typical of this part of Africa.

Between August and October, the rainy season, rainfall can be quite lengthy in time with temperatures reaching 30°C.

The dry season, which lasts from November to July, can see some strong winds. Temperatures are around 20°C between December and March.

The water temperature is between 23 and 26°C all year round.

To experience the best conditions in Cape Verde the best time to visit is between August and October so avoiding the extreme dryness which can be tiring.

Still an untouched and authentic destination, Cape Verde is an archipelago divided into two main groups of islands of which nine are inhabited. Apart from the kindness of its inhabitants, the charm of the countryside and the multicultural atmosphere will all seduce you.

The Capital, Praia, is on the island of São Tiago. It is perfect for taking a gentle stroll around the centre or you may wish to visit some of the lovely beaches nearby.
On the island of São Vicente, the town of Mindelo offers a lively atmosphere with its nightclubs and restaurants often inside typical colonial style houses.

If you are a fan of the great outdoors, then the wooded island of Santo Antão is the place for you. Its many paths through magnificent landscapes of mountains with luxuriant vegetation are definitely worth a visit.

The small island of Brava is a charming stopping off point. Its town of Nova Sintra, considered the most beautiful town in the archipelago, is an absolute jewel with its houses and beautiful flowered gardens but also worth a visit is the small and peaceful fishing port of Furna, the ride there alone is worth the trip with its unforgettable landscapes.

Fogo, the island of the great volcano, is seen as almost an obligatory visit to make. At a height of 2,892 metres, the volcano dominates the landscape. Visit the island of São Filipe with the Aguadinha gazebo, and the Ermida de Nossa Senhora, a small and isolated chapel situated just above the sea.

A valid passport and a visa is required for the majority of nationalities visiting Cape Verde, if travelling as part of a tourist group the latter may not be necessary however.
The currency in circulation is the Cape Verdean escudo (CVE).

Your planned budget for a visit here will generally need to be higher than for other African countries due to its insularity. A double room with bathroom will cost around €50 and the national dish, cachupa, or a meal in a family restaurant will cost approximately €10.

Concerning health precautions; protect yourself from the mosquitoes and make sure you thoroughly disinfect any cuts, even superficial ones, to prevent infection. Do not drink the tap water and peel your fruit and vegetables.

To circulate between the islands a boat cannot be avoided and the sea can be choppy at times. On the islands themselves, buses and lorries can be found quite easily.
