What to do in Cayman Islands

On Grand Cayman, is the capital Georgetown, and it is also the most populated island. You will visit the Boatwain's Beach Grand Cayman Turtle Farm, which gathers various species of water turtles. In Stingray City, you can approach the sting rays, and dive with the multicolored fish in the coral reefs. Discover also Seven Miles Beach, a beautiful beach lined with beautiful houses and restaurants, visit the Pedro St James Museum located in the oldest building on the island.

Little Cayman is uninhabited, but they come to explore the Bloody Point Reserve for scuba diving and deep-sea fishing and to enjoy the almost deserted beaches of Saindy Point or Preston Bay.

On Cayman Brac, hiking enthusiasts will find many trails between rainforest and mangroves, caves famous for sheltering the treasures hidden in the past by pirates (nothing stops you from searching!) And will be able to observe more than 200 species of birds.

Outdoor activities to practice: diving, kayaking, climbing, hiking.

Cayman Islands: The basics

A valid passport is sufficient for French nationals, as well as a return ticket.

The current currency is the Cayman Islands dollar (CI $).

You will land at Owen Roberts Airport, on Grand Cayman, about 3 km from Georgetown, and it is by taxi that you will reach the city center. There are also airports on the other two islands, but no taxi, and you will need to rent a car unless your hotel sends out its customers. Most visitors arrive on the islands by cruise ship.

To travel in the archipelago, renting a car is the best solution, or else a motorcycle. Between the islands, one can only use the plane, or the private shuttles.

Budget: you will have to plan a rather high budget for your stay: difficult to find a hotel at less than 100 € per night.

Health: no special precautions are needed, except good sun protection and mosquito repellent. The medical technical platform is effective, there is even a decompression box in Georgetown for possible diving accidents.

Security: there is no security problem, the archipelago is very peaceful.

Shopping: You will find few handicrafts, apart from a few traditional jewels. But the lack of taxes on many items will allow you to bring back watches, perfumes, designer clothes at attractive prices.
