What to do in Vannes : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants

VannesCity of Brittany, located west of France, Vannes has about 52,000 inhabitants and attracts many tourists, thanks to its location in the Gulf of Morbihan, a dozen kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean, and its old walled city, converted into pedestrian zone conducive to strolling. Vannes is accessed by the national 165 from Brest, Nantes or the TGV in three hours from Paris. For travel within the city, there is a network of biking and 26 bicycle stations, self-service, and 15 bus lines. Founded by the Romans in 56 BC., Vannes was born on a hill, around which it has developed gradually. You will find many places to visit: the ramparts, well preserved and offer a panoramic view; the wash of the Garenne built in 1817; St. Peter's Cathedral, built in 1020; the Saint-Vincent, drilled in 1624 to promote trade between the heart of the city and harbor; the port itself, become a place dedicated to the festivities after serving an important role in maritime trade, which is bordered by a tree-lined promenade of several kilometers; the beautiful buildings of the 17th century; instead of the Strings surrounded by half-timbered houses with bright colors; a 16th century house which are carved the figures of the master of the house and his wife, mascots of the city; the Fine Arts Museum in a former market hall and its beautiful collection of modern art; the Archaeological Museum housed in the stunning Château Gaillard with its high tower to 5 sides. One of the prettiest cities of Morbihan!
