What to do in Valencia : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants

ValenciaLocated on the east coast of Spain, on the Mediterranean coast, Valencia has about 800 000 inhabitants, and nearly two million considering its suburbs. Known for its futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, Valencia is the home of the culinary specialty, paella. Its climate is semi-arid Mediterranean, and the town enjoy warm summers and mild winters. Third economic center of Spain, Valencia is also a major tourist spot. It has several attractions, besides the City of Arts and Sciences cited above, such as arenas, the cathedral, the Serrano towers, the Palace of the Generalitat, and especially the Lodge silk, beautiful Gothic building, which is now listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. The market and the railway station are also worth a visit. You can enjoy its many parks and gardens, like the Botanical Garden, 200 years old, or the Turia Gardens, planted in the old bed of the river was diverted to the city center after the flood of 1957. Don't miss the Plaza de la Virgen, a pedestrian square where upsets are always a diverse crowd with its cafés and inline skaters, and sees every second Sunday of May for a procession carrying the statue of the Virgin Mary at the Basilica Cathedral. You can also enjoy a paella on the promenade by the sea, which does not prevent you to test other local specialties, often based on rice, always delicious. If you are in Valencia between 15 and 19 March, the Fallas take you on a whirlwind of fireworks, concerts and parades that make probably the craziest festival in Europe! In summer, swimming fans can enjoy the beach, nearby the city center. Even children will enjoy themselves in this city, for example with the Biopark and animals, cinema Hemisféric the City of Arts and Sciences, or puppet theater La Estrella. To travel around the city, metro and trams make your life easier.
