Located in southern Germany, Stuttgart has 600 000 inhabitants, but its agglomeration totals over 5 million. Built between hills and valleys, surrounded by vineyards, it is crossed by the river Neckar, and it has a continental climate, with fairly large temperature differences, with winters that can be harsh.
