What to do in Saint-Tropez : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants

Saint-TropezFrench city of Var in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region, Saint-Tropez is undoubtedly the most famous seaside resort of the Côte d'Azur following the presence of artists in the 50s, who have trained there the international jet-set. The city has about 4000 inhabitants and is built in a gulf, on a peninsula, where it has 12 kilometers of coastline with six beaches, including the famous beach of Pampelonne, and it offers on its territory ten hotels five stars to meet the demand of its upscale clientele. Famous painters also contributed to his notoriety, as Paul Signac discovered the place and its beautiful light, then Matisse, Bonnard, Buffet, Picasso, but also writers like Sagan or Prévert. Many sites, natural or built, also attract the visitor: the citadel and its marine museum, with a beautiful point of view at the foot of the ramparts; the Portalet tower of the 16th century; rue du Portail-Neuf and the chapel of the Mercy with its three flying buttresses and its domed glazed tiles; the Byblos hotel built in the 60s; the famous Sénéquier café on the harbor, and the port itself with its luxury boats; Place des Lices and its mythical bowlers; the butterfly house, with its collection of 20,000 pieces; Madrague, house of Brigitte Bardot; the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church, Italian Baroque style and campanile Côté nature, we can discover the coastal path starting from the beach of Tahiti to reach in 3 hours of the Cape Camarat, or visit the botanical park of the castle of Moutte. You can also enjoy quieter moments discovering the city out of season and strolling in the small Provencal market on Tuesday and Saturday morning.
