What to do in Lille : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants

LilleLocated in northern France, Lille has about 230,000 inhabitants, and the urban community to which it belongs exceeds one million inhabitants. Its climate is temperate oceanic and did get quite mild winters and rather cool summers, with frequent rains. The city consists of a kind of puzzle of different neighborhoods, each of which has its own identity and a particular aspect. To move around the city, there is a dense network of bus, metro and trams. The bike paths are well developed, as well as bicycles. Several famous events attract many tourists every year: for example the Great Fair (early September), which is the largest flea market in Europe, or the European Film Festival (March / April) or the Jazz Festival North (late March). Lille also has a sufficiently varied heritage to conquer the traveler: the Saint-Pierre collegiate and crypt Romanesque, Gothic churches of Saint Catherine and Saint-Maurice, the building of Beaurepaire Renaissance, not to mention contemporary constructions as the towers of Euralille. You will also find in your walks in the streets of residential houses from different periods, reflecting the diverse influences of architecture over time. Green areas are not forgotten, with the Bois de Boulogne contiguous to the citadel, or the Vauban garden, which is a beautiful English garden of over 3 hectares. Do not forget the museums: the Palace of Fine Arts, and containing vast treasures; the Museum of Natural History; the Birthplace of Charles de Gaulle ... and many others. Food lovers will appreciate this city, too: local cuisine, beers and coffees will not leave indifferent lovers of good food ... Lille is easily accessible by train from Paris, Brussels and London, and is also served by an international airport, ten kilometers from the center.
