What to do in Le Havre : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants

Le HavreLocated in Normandy, on the right bank of the Seine estuary, Le Havre is also the second largest port in France after Marseille and has about 172,000 inhabitants. Easily accessed from Paris, a distance of 200 km by highway A13 or by train (TGV also links to the Marseille once a day). An airport provides flights to Lyon, but also in high season to holiday destinations such as Tunisia, Portugal, the Balearic Islands or Greece. A link to Portsmouth by boat twice a day. To get around town, solutions abound: a cable car to go from the lower town to the upper town, a bus network, two tram lines, and bike paths coupled to a bicycle rental, and many taxis. Several buildings in the city are classified as "historical monuments" or worth a visit or a visit, although it is little old buildings because of the bombings of World War II: Graville Abbey, the oldest building Havre, dating from the Middle Ages; Michaelmas Ingouville chapel, also from medieval times; Dubocage the hotel Belville; the old courthouse; the Hanging Gardens, and 17 hectares offering a superb view of the Seine bay; Vauban docks; all neighborhoods of Le Havre that reflect a recent modern architecture, like the Chamber of Commerce and Industry; les Bains des Docks, aquatic center designed by Jean Nouvel; Volcano, Monument to the incomparable Oscar Niemeyer architecture, boasting a huge library and the National Theatre; St. Joseph church, Perret, with its lantern tower and its 12,768 colored glasses, landmark throughout the city. There are also several interesting museums: the House of the Owner, dedicated to the history of the city; the Museum of Modern Art André Malraux (MuMa) with its important collections of Impressionist; the Natural History Museum in its 18th century building. Unusual and modern, Le Havre will surprise and seduce you for sure!
