However, starting this month, the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) required for travel to the UK is being extended to new nationalities, with a price hike expected to follow shortly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A planned increase from \u00a316 to \u00a320<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While an official date has yet to be confirmed, the cost of an ETA is set to rise from \u00a316 (\u20ac18.50) to \u00a320 (\u20ac23). Following a previous increase just a few months ago, this effectively doubles the price since the scheme&#8217;s initial launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, the requirement is being extended to more visa-exempt nationalities visiting for tourism. As of 25 February 2026, a total of 84 nationalities will be eligible for\u2014and required to hold\u2014an ETA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the Electronic Travel Authorisation?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2 April 2025, all US and European citizens\u2014regardless of age (infants included)\u2014must hold a valid ETA alongside their passport to enter the UK, unless they hold a visa or residency status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key details of the ETA:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Validity:<\/strong> It is valid for multiple entries over a period of two years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stay Duration:<\/strong> You can stay for up to 6 months per visit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Passport Links:<\/strong> The ETA is digitally linked to your passport. If your passport expires or is lost, you must apply for a new ETA, even if the original was still technically valid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The ETA can be obtained via the official UK government website or a dedicated app. The process involves uploading your passport details and a digital photo, followed by an online payment. According to the authorities, most applications are processed within three days, with confirmation sent via email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As is standard with international travel, please note that having a valid ETA does not guarantee entry.
