But there’s also a place that, while not forbidden, endangered, or in a risky location, you still have very little chance of ever visiting. This time it’s purely for financial reasons, as we’re talking about the most expensive hotel and suite in the world…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This hotel is the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, featuring the Empathy Suite, which opened in 2019 and is renowned as the most expensive accommodation in the world: $100,000 USD (roughly \u00a379,000 or \u20ac92,000) per night for the “base” price, with the additional requirement of typically booking at least two nights!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But as they say, this isn’t just an ordinary hotel suite\u2014it’s a work of art and a luxury living space for entertaining, entirely designed by one of Britain’s most renowned and controversial artists, Damien Hirst. Controversial in the sense that he’s made his name through often provocative works on themes including death, life, and religion. His notable pieces include a series of (large) “animals preserved in formaldehyde” and a “(human) skull encrusted with diamonds,” both of which generated considerable buzz when unveiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In short, he’s the one who decorated this massive 9,150-square-foot space spread across two floors, where you’ll find several of his works including some of his formaldehyde animals, making the place more of a contemporary art space than a “classic” suite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As you might expect, the Empathy Suite offers all the luxury, excess, and services and amenities you could imagine in such a place. The result, it must be said, isn’t always in the best taste\u2014sometimes even flirting with the absurd. But anyway…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So expect to see (if not experience) a suspended private outdoor pool overlooking the Strip (Las Vegas’s famous avenue) with the panoramic view that goes with it, two massage rooms and an ultra-modern sauna, an impressive 13-seat circular bar decorated with artworks, two massive master bedrooms, a wall of diamonds and two others covered with pharmaceutical pills and medications (another of Hirst’s favorite themes), and a 52-seat movie theater. Plus, to enjoy yourself in the hotel’s casino, a $10,000 USD credit.
