What to do in Jordan
Jordan is a singular destination for its legendary warmth, the atmospheric ruins from several civilizations and the magnificent colors.

Jordan : The basics
Several airlines operate between Amman and various European capitals.
A visa is required to enter the country, ask for it when you arrive. The currency in circulation is the Jordanian Dinar. The budget required is not very expensive: A meal in a restaurant will cost about €7 or €8, and a double room often less than €30. There are no particular health issues but it is advisable to avoid drinking tap water, and protect yourself from the sun in summer. To travel within the country, buses are very comfortable and minibuses and taxis are very affordable. For those who want to take home some souvenirs, popular and interesting examples include copper or silver teapots, hookah kits, traditional keffiyeh, hand-woven rugs, mosaics, embroidered caftans, and bottles of sand. |
Towns in Jordan
Capital of Jordan, Amman has a little more than two million inhabitants. It represents one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world even today. Built on 19 hills, is the name of each determines and designates the various districts of the city. Between Desert and Jordan Valley, this city offers a fascinating blend of modernity and antiquity of multiple traces.
You will find in downtown bustling souk, and the oldest mosque in the city. The citadel on a hill, includes parts of Rome, as the Temple of Hercules, and other Byzantine, while possessing some relics dating from the Bronze Age. You can also visit the Roman theater built in the 2nd century AD, with its 6,000 seats, and always according to various performances and shows. Do not miss the gigantic King Abdullah I Mosque, built in the 80s, and having a great dome of blue mosaic.
You can go from Amman to discover nearby the site of Jesus' baptism in the Jordan River, the shores of the Dead Sea, the Roman city of Gherasa and the famous and magnificent historical site of Petra.
