What to do in Valletta : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Capital of the Republic of Malta, Valletta has a little more than six thousand inhabitants. She is known for hosting the largest number of monuments per square meter and its site is a World Heritage by UNESCO.
The city is served by an international airport, but traffic is relatively small inner city because of the physical setting: hilly streets and pedestrian zones limit the presence of cars. You can admire the Baroque architecture of the city, its streets laid out in checkerboard, and, taking the main street of Republic Street, visit its main monuments like the Palace of Grand Masters whose many rooms are furnished with tapestries and sumptuous objects, the National Museum of Fine Arts, National Museum of Archaeology, St. John's Cathedral with its gilded and painted superb.
Do not miss a stroll on the market in Merchant's Street early in the morning, and on the walls. The gastronomy is not forgotten because you can taste typical dishes in many restaurants in the city. Do not expect to swim easily in the town itself, despite the mild climate, the most accessible beach is located about fifteen miles.
